Touratech Rally

We will be at the Touratech West Rally in Plain, WA to share roadbooks with a new audience. They are not just a great way to share route information for racing. They are a great way to share Dual Sport and Adventure Bike routes as well. We will be on stage to give a talk on the history of roadbooks and their progression from sheets on a notepad that was torn off, to continuous hand cranked rolls, to motorized roll chart holders, to where they are now on electronic devices. We will cover how to follow a roadbook along with going over waypoints and waypoint types, CAP headings, tulips, notes and symbols. We will cover the operation of the app used to view the roadbooks on a mobile device like a phone or tablet. We will help participants get roadbooks loaded up on their devices.

Riders will be able to go out and follow our Roadbook Tours on their own in the beautiful landscape around Plain. When they get back, we will be there to go over what they learned while out on the trail before giving them another Roadbook Tour to enjoy.

To sign up visit the Touratech Rally website:

October Northwest Roadbooks Book Club – Finding Your Way Thru the Tulips – Volumes 1, 2 and 3

Join us for the October Northwest Roadbooks Book Club where we will discuss and analyze “Finding Your Way Thru the Tulips – Volumes 1, 2 and 3”. Our initial discussion will focus on how to understand the tulips and other notes in Roadbook Tours before you get out and ride the practice Roadbook Tours. We will be available to help you get your Android device set up and provide help with loading and understanding the roadbooks. After you finish a route, we will be there to talk about how much fun you had, where you got lost, which notes were wrong and how your navigation experience went before you head out to explore your next Route.

We have three Roadbook Tours for you to ride. The 3 Volumes will each build upon what you learned to help you become more confident as you gain experience following them on public roads in an area you already know.

Each Roadbook Tour is on paved roadways and can be ridden on any motorcycle from a smaller dual-sport all the way up to a Goldwing. Get your Android tablet mounted, your power supply set up, and your TerraPirata Rally Roadbooks app loaded up and come meet us for some fun following the tulips.
